Hey new member looking at getting his first car
Hey,
New here and just joining the community to see what the stepway is like as im considering it as my first car. Im 23 passed my test 2 months ago and really want to get a brand new car just because of the perks (warranty, you know how its been driven and how its been broken in plus I plan on keeping a good 10 plus years) I was looking at the Audi Q2 but the more I look at the amount of money I would have to spend (its gonna be like £8000 deposit then 280 ish a month then £12,000 balloon payment on PCP) I can get a stepway for just £249 a month on HP!!!!! with just a £5000 deposit that sounds like a better deal to me with no big payments to worry about in 48 months time.
Thanks for allowing me to join and its pleasure to be here

Re: Hey new member looking at getting his first car
Planning on test driivng one very soon and lol I won’t pass that onto my dad who has been an Audi driver since 2012
Really don’t care about the haters either it has 4 wheels an engine and an infotainment system with sat nav what more does anyone need.
The 2 star Euronap rating don’t bother me either as it’s poor score is all driver assist related im sorry but if your sensible and know how to drive you don’t any of that anyway and 10 to 15 years ago we didn’t have any of that assist stuff so idk why we suddenly need it now for to that point that they are gonna mark a car down so much just for not having it. if this car was tested just 5 years ago I bet it would of at least got a 3 maybe 4 star rating.

Welcome to DaciaOwnersClub.uk.
As for someone looking for their first car it looks like you have done your research, always very helpful in making the right choice for yourself.
The Stepway is a great starter car, Low insurance and cheap to rum etc, Nippy enough for its small turbo engine.
Well worth a test drive to see how it feels to you when you are at the wheel.
As for buying on HP, have a look around at bank loans the APR rates are far lower and you will get them monthly payments down a bit

Thanks you have a good point but I prefer the look of the stepway as it has that off road crossover Q2/A1 Citycarver look to it which I likeJon@Alderley wrote: ↑Mon Aug 02, 2021 8:32 pm Welcome to the site, as a first car though you could get a Sandero (top spec) for £169 a month

Yes the research has well and truly been done I been everywhere from Audi to Mercedes to Cupra to Seat to Dacia and in the end it finally as I mentioned come down to Dacia. To be honest the more I look into it the more I notice there isn't must difference between the Dacia and a Q2 or any of the other makes I mentioned.
Both have 4 wheels both have an engine both have a infotainment system fair enough the others may have a leather interior LED ambient lighting etc etc but really at the end of the day it just looks as if your just paying 27 to £39,000 for the badge on the front.
I do have plans though to do some mods:
White Stepway, dashcam and Pandora alarm system hardwire installation, Black Alloys, Red Brake callipers and drums, LED Ambient lighting and also starlight roof headliner professionally fitted (ambient lighting just looks cool and always wanted the star light roof ever since I saw it installed on Rolls Royce it looks amazing at night).
I bet even after getting all these mods it will still end up cheaper than buying a Q2

I like the idea of ambient lights.
But not the star lights on the roof lining, I think that is well OTT.

Re: Hey new member looking at getting his first car
Went to Dacia today in Watford they were shut but had a 21 plate stepway outside so managed to have a bit of a look around and loved it. Dad was with me and he approved straight away as well so im now 100% getting the stepway yes I still need to do a test drive but I just already know im gonna love it .
I wonder if they will do a 24 hour test drive or somthing as its my first car yes I already said I will love it but of course I need to make 100% sure and that isnt somthing you can decide in 15 mins or half an hour.

Re: Hey new member looking at getting his first car
Some dealers did do extended test drives prior to covid, not sure if they are still available, but if they are you generally have to book them in advance, But if you are not getting the car until next year you have plenty of time to take a test drive or few.stephen390 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 11:02 pm Went to Dacia today in Watford they were shut but had a 21 plate stepway outside so managed to have a bit of a look around and loved it. Very true, quick question the spare wheel do you know if its a full size spare or space saver?Nessi wrote: ↑Wed Aug 04, 2021 1:50 amSome dealers did do extended test drives prior to covid, not sure if they are still available, but if they are you generally have to book them in advance, But if you are not getting the car until next year you have plenty of time to take a test drive or few.stephen390 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 11:02 pm Went to Dacia today in Watford they were shut but had a 21 plate stepway outside so managed to have a bit of a look around and loved it. Mine is a full size,
When I ordered the car I stipulated that I wanted a full size under slung spare The helpful dealer checked and confirmed that it is a option with my model. ( some can only get a space saver).
However you are looking at a Stepway.
They have 16 inch wheel's, The spare you get as the option extra with them is what Dacia call a emergency spare wheel.
It is a 15 inch Sandero rim with a larger walled tyre so the rolling radius is close to the 16 inch rod wheel, Which is unfortunatly speed restricted and should only be used in a emergency.
In saying that I am not sure if it is the same on the new MkIII.

Re: Hey new member looking at getting his first car
Well it's been over a year since I started this topic and a lot of going backwards and forwards looking at other cars but finally I decided it's 100% the stepway for me.
Should be ordering one before the end of the year and can't wait to see it on the driveway although ik it's gonna be a long wait (was told if I order now I got to wait 6 months)
So after a year of going backwards and forwards, tooing and throwing, weighing them up against each other.
What has eventually made you come to the decision that the Stepway is 100% for you,

Great choice, I had to wait 6 months for mine in 2013. Still going strong, never been into a garage except for service !stephen390 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 31, 2022 7:34 pm Well it's been over a year since I started this topic and a lot of going backwards and forwards looking at other cars but finally I decided it's 100% the stepway for me.
