From Ecosport to Stepway Comfort

Post by Gazzadacia »

Hi all,
Just part ex'd my 68 plate ecosport for a 71 plate Stepway 1.0 TCe Comfort 20000 miles. Kind of a quick decision after reading that Dacia had good reliability reports. The ecosport was 6 years old and had done 22000 miles, the air con packed in, not a leak as had it re gassed and then tested again when it wasn't working. Then my heater fan packed in, if it's the blower motor it's a dash out job so not cheap. It was due a service and MOT next month so with the cost of putting everything right it made more sense to get the Dacia. I look after my stuff ecosport was serviced as it should by Ford I was worried what else could go wrong, there was that wet belt issue as well. Anyway sorry about the rambling hopefully this car will be ok.

Hi Gazzadacia,
:welcome:

20k miles is not a lot at all and I think you have made a good decision on choosing the Stepway, very economical to run and pretty nippy too!
You certainly had a lot of problems with your last car though, I used to drive Fords many years ago before they became full of tech like most of the rest have.

Don't worry about the odd ramble, you are in very good company for this practice I assure you
We have a forum specifically for the Stepway as you will have no doubt found should you need any questions answered and of course quite a lot of things are common and relate to more than one model so the old search can be useful for this - Now I'm rambling...

Hope you enjoy the forum and find it useful and even entertaining at times

Thank you, I think it's nippier than the ecosport although at the moment the ecosport was more comfortable but obviously just getting used to it.

Well worth spending some serious time adjusting and trying the seat and steering wheel to try and find the sweet spot, I spent a couple of weeks adjusting my seating position in the first Duster I owned, since then I have driven up to Scotland, down to Devon, across to Anglesy and all over without any discomfort at all and I could be described as being reasonably tall. If you are more normal height etc you should have an easier time getting it right :D

I must admit after the comfort of our Meriva, our new Sandero was an unknown quantity over long distances. As Oldbear remarked finding the best driving position is important. After 2 years and approaching 18k I can honestly say we have had no trouble either mechanically or comfort. We recently did about 700 miles on holiday (all on one fill up-ah the joys of having LPG and petrol tanks!) and experienced no aches or pains.

I'm 6ft and I think I have now found the sweet spot after much juggling around.

I was invited to sit in awbuggrit's Sandero to try it, I'm 6'2" on a good day and I found the seating position very comfortable, very nice cars!!
