Just had our renewal from the AA, £59.47 up on last year's. £266.37 comp, but I've added NCD protection (£21.10) and Legal Assistance (£26.49) which tops out at £313.96. Very reasonable in my view.

Mine went up something stupid just before i got the Duster , told em to stick it . I always look for better quotes every year before its due , get better prices as a new customer . There is no loyalty bonus for staying with your present insurer you just get screwed because they stick you on auto renewal and hope you don't notice

These are my insurance costs since 2022 to present. Full no claims discount, and no claim protection included - same insurance company.

Jan 2022 £237.45
Jan 2023 £285.05 - £47.60 price hike - nearly 20%
Jan 2024 £454.08 - £169.03 price hike wtf? - close to 59.5% - lowered after complaint phone call to £350.79 saving me £103.29

I never leave any insurance on auto renew, if I had they would have quite happily taken the full £454.08 from me - don't be lazy, pay your insurance manually, look for alternative quotes for them to match or you leave them and go elsewhere.

Jan 2024 £337.35 - They originally told me it would cost nearly £430, I moaned and pointed out it was a lower powered engine so they eventually dropped the price.

You need to haggle, get on the phone to them, no use using their on-line systems and stupid bot chat - forget this crap, you need to speak with a human being and put your case forward.

I also totally object to the greedy money extracting government adding an additional tax, first imposed in 1994 on all insurance policies you take out called the "Insurance Premium Tax"

My WIfe's car insurance renewal came through the other day for her Duster TCe130.
Last year she paid them £372.05
This year's renewal price £634.05 - a greedy grasping hike of £262 or 70.43%!!

Called them and asked why, no proper answer of course as you are dealing with some poor soul working from home who can't answer with anything other than the stock reply of "repair costs have gone up". Total bollocks, they haven't gone up that bloody much unless of course we are subsidising battery car insurance which some insurance companies won't touch!

She got a quote elsewhere for £334.00 - paying less excess as well!

I'm currently still with Privilege who used to be quite expensive but not too bad at the moment - next year may be a different story!
My WIfe was with Direct Line and had been for a few years, but they have gone stupid so sod them, she managed to get a better deal with the AA insurance in the end and did better than me!!

There's no rhyme or reason to insurance companies. Many years ago I added my name as a driver to my daughter's policy even though she was living hundreds of miles away and I was as likely to drive her vehicle as finding an honest politician, so the reduced her premium by £70. The whole grasping business needs a bloody good shake up.
